Atlassian Statuspage — the product most teams are migrating from — meters primarily on subscribers, meaning the count of people who have asked to be told when you break. At the time of writing its published ladder starts around $29/mo and reaches roughly $399/mo at the 5,000-subscriber tier, with an enterprise tier above that. Those numbers move — check Atlassian’s own pricing page rather than trusting this paragraph.
The consequence is structural rather than malicious: the more people who rely on your status page, the more your status page costs. The bill rises at exactly the moment the page is doing its job.
StatusOwl meters on the things that consume our infrastructure: how many status pages you run, how many monitors we execute for you, how often we execute them, how many people are in your organisation, and how long we keep the results. Those five axes are the table below. There are no others.
How many people load your page is not one of them. A page that ten thousand customers refresh during an outage costs the same as one nobody visits, and there is no tier above where that changes.

If the job you are buying is “tell five thousand customers by email when we break”, Statuspage and Instatus do that today and StatusOwl does not. These are not features held back for a higher tier. They do not exist on any plan, Scale included, and this is the page where you are deciding whether to pay us.
Not built. There is no subscribe form on status pages and no subscriber list in the dashboard. Publishing an incident today updates the page; it does not send anything to anyone.
The six notification channels are built, tested and in production — but the only thing that currently triggers them is a Watch Owl server-metric alert rule. A failing HTTP, ping or TCP check opens an incident on your status page and notifies nobody. This is the single biggest gap in the product and it is what we are working on right now.
Fully built and deployed — monitors carry a region list, nodes are assigned per region, and the scheduler already dispatches per region. It is capped at one region per monitor on every plan until we have enough node capacity in more locations to promise it.

Is the Free plan really free?
Yes, and it stays free. Free gives you 1 status page on your own domain with automatic SSL, 25 monitors on a 3 min check floor, automatic incidents, unlimited incident and maintenance posts, and 30 days of history. There is no credit card at sign-up and no expiry date on the account. If Free covers what you need, stay on it.
Is there a free trial of the paid plans?
No. StatusOwl has no trial mechanism, so there is no countdown running anywhere in your account. The Free plan is the try-before-you-buy path: it is the same product with smaller limits, which means you can put a real page on a real domain and watch it handle a real incident before you decide whether to pay for more of it.
Can I use my own domain on the Free plan?
Yes. Custom domains with automatic SSL are on every plan, Free included. You add the hostname, StatusOwl hands you the DNS records one stage at a time and verifies each one as you go, and the certificate is issued and renewed with nothing to install. The CNAME target is status-pages.statusowl.app.
How custom domains workWhat happens when I hit a plan limit?
The action that would cross the limit is refused, and the error names the limit and the plan it belongs to. Nothing you already have is touched: existing pages stay up, existing monitors keep checking, and your history stays where it is. Limits are enforced when you create something, not by quietly degrading what is already running.
What counts as a monitor?
One check target. An HTTP or HTTPS endpoint, a host you ping, or a TCP port — each of those is one monitor against your plan's count. SSL certificate expiry checks and WHOIS domain-expiry checks are counted separately and are included on every plan, so watching a certificate does not cost you a monitor.
Do you notify my status page subscribers?
No. StatusOwl has no subscriber system today. There is no subscribe form on a status page and no subscriber list in the dashboard, so publishing an incident updates the page and sends nothing to anyone. It is the thing we are building right now, and if notifying subscribers is the job you are hiring a status page to do, an incumbent with a mature subscriber system is the better purchase today.

Where this stands on the roadmapHow does annual billing work?
You pay twelve months up front and the effective monthly price drops by up to 21%, depending on the plan. Growth billed monthly is $49 a month; billed yearly it is $468 charged once, which works out at $39 a month. Switch the toggle above to see the yearly figures for every plan.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Billing runs through Stripe. You change plan, open the Stripe customer portal, or downgrade to Free from the billing page in your dashboard, and only owners, admins and the billing role can do it. There is no contract, no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
How long do you keep my data, and how much does the page show?
Retention is set per plan: 30 days on Free rising to 365 days on Scale. That is separate from what a visitor sees. A public status page always draws the most recent 90 days of daily bars, with a 30-day uptime percentage under each service, so on Free the window the page draws is longer than the history behind it and the oldest bars read as no data. On the paid plans the extra history is there for scheduled reports and for looking back at what actually happened.
